Spirit And Life Devotional: Total Surrender

Must read

[pull_quote_center]”Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.” Genesis 22:9 NKJV[/pull_quote_center]

God asked Abraham to take his son, his only son Isaac, whom he loved, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which He was to show him. The Bible says that Abraham did not hesitate; he rose early in the morning saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and arose and went to the place which God had told him. When they got there, Abraham built an altar, placed the wood in order; bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And he was actually going to kill Isaac, when God spoke to him, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

Brothers and sisters, Abraham was going to offer his only son, gotten in his old age, to God! In the Bible, we read about people who also surrendered their possessions, we read too of the little boy who surrendered his lunch to Jesus.

A popular hymn says, “All to Jesus I surrender; All to Him I freely give.” I pray that God will bring us all to that point of total surrender, where we willing give Him everything, including our lives, withholding nothing. Amen.
