People today are eager for something new, and it has made them open to several erroneous doctrines and so-called revelations. We need to be very careful. Preachers and members who are always more interested in preaching and hearing a new gospel are susceptible to deception.
I remember what Joyce Meyer said about 10-15 years ago: “What you need is a now word, not a new word.” The apostles were okay with reminding the brethren of what they had already preached to them before; there was no pressure to keep preaching new messages! Peter write: “For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease.” II Peter 1:12-15
There’s so much deception in the church today, and so many are being deceived and excited about the new “truths” they are being fed with, not realizing that they are lies from the pit of hell. Not every nice sounding message is nice for your soul and destiny. We should rely on the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, instead of manipulating the word of God just to appear great. May God help us. Amen.
