Temitope Talabi: Christmas, The Celebration Of Our Peace [The Trent Voices]

Must read

In these days of hustle and bustle, many of us look to different places for peace to calm our stressful and overwhelming lives. Many look to friends and family while others practice meditation or look to the bottom of a bottle. Still some look to their money while others look to their knowledge.

However, all these things can never give true and lasting peace no matter how peaceful they seem.

The only source of true and lasting peace is God and it gives Him pleasure to extend His peace to us through His Son, Jesus.

According to the bible we have peace with God, only through Jesus and the birth of Jesus made the peace of God available on earth to all of mankind. This was God’s plan all along, even from the foundation of the world. This was God’s way of showing His love to us and restoring true and lasting peace to the earth.

This was why thousands of years ago when the birth of Jesus was announced, the hosts of heaven declared peace on earth with joyful singing and praises to God.

This was also why many years before the birth of Christ, prophet Isaiah announced that one of the names Jesus would be called is the Prince of peace.

So as we celebrate Christmas which is the celebration of the birth of Jesus, I believe that this is as good a time as any, to talk about the peace of God.

How does the peace the peace we receive through Jesus differ from the peace we get around us?
Jesus himself makes it clear to us that the peace we receive from Him is not like the peace the world gives because the peace He gives, surpasses all human understanding and it gives rest to the mind and soul even when our surrounding has gone haywire. He makes us understand that His peace is not fleeting or shaky but truly lasting.

However, the peace we receive through Jesus is not automatic. It pleases God to give us His peace through Jesus so we have to first of all accept Him as Lord and Savior over our life and we have to surrender your life to Him.

Secondly, we have to accept Jesus as God’s only way to give us peace and believe that He is able to give this peace at all times. We also have to be willing to accept His peace by faith.

Thirdly, we have to continue to keep our mind stayed on Him by continually meditating on His word and allowing it to take root in our heart by faith

May God help us as we receive His Peace

Luke 2:13,14
The Shepherds and Angels
And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Isaiah 9:6
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful”

Philippians 4:6,7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
