The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 said the Fulani herdsmen that are responsible for the massacre in Nigerian communities were Boko Haram disguising themselves as Fulani Herdsmen.
In a statement by the IYC spokesman released on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, Eric Omare, the group condemned the onslaught on innocent Nigerians, especially rural communities in the South East, South West and middle belt, with specific reference to the dastardly action on Enugu people.
Omare says the traditional Fulani herdsmen have been going about their businesses for decades without resorting to violence and murderous action against fellow Nigerians.
He alleged that the ongoing attacks are sponsored to create hatred among ethnic groups and destabilise the nation by disgruntled persons.
He said: “We are of the view that the attacks are being carried out by terrorists who are disguising themselves as Fulani herdsmen.
“The traditional Fulani herdsmen have been grazing their cattle for decades in different parts of the country without such attacks until recently when the attacks became persistent”.
He expressed shock that President Muhammadu Buhari who vowed to crush the Niger Delta militants and treat them as common criminals, has remained silent while the Herdsmen kill and maim innocent Nigerians.
While saying the action could disintegrate Nigeria, he faulted the silence of Buhari, just as he pointed suspicious fingers on the president.
