‘The story of his sack is completely false’: Kachikwu Still GMD Of NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has described as “completely false” a report that its Group Managing Director, Ibe Kachikwu, has been sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Rumours erupted on Thursday, April 21, 2016 that Buhari had sacked Kachikwu has GMD of the NNPC and replaced him with Maikanti Baru the corporation’s current group executive director.

Group general manager, Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Garba-deen Mohammed told Premium Times that the story was not true.

“The story is completely false. It should be ignored by all Nigerians. The minister is currently in his office and has continued to function in the roles assigned to him by the president,” Mohammed said in a swift reaction..

Kachikwu, who was appointed in August 2015 as group managing director of the NNPC was later appointed as minister of State for Petroleum Resources into the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari.
