A three-man gang has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command on Thursday, February 12, 2015 for attempting to murder a pastor’s wife, Ibidunni Ighodalo, in Lagos state.
Among the three men are a dog handler, Abdulkareem Mohammed,24, herbalist Akeem Makinde-Ewuosi, 36, and a 29-year-old guard, Paul Eke.
The trio were arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrate Court in the state on a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted murder of the wife of Pastor Ituah Ighodalo of Trinity House Church.
The prosecutor of the case, Chidi Okoye, the suspects attempted to murder the victim with the same poisonous substance which they used to poison the pastor’s four-month-old dog, Simba between January 28 and February 10, 2015, at about 10pm at 4b Ogun Street, Osborne Foreshore Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Okoye alleged that the first defendant, who allegedly had sexual fantasies towards Mrs Ighodalo, planned to kill her husband after killing the dog, so that the affection she has for her husband and the dog will be transferred to him, Leadership reports.
The defendants were later apprehended after the pastor’s wife had a revelation from the Holy spirit that something was not right.
The defendants admitted to killing the dog and attempting to murder of the pastor’s wife by poisoning her.
The first defendant reportedly acquired a black soap and powder from the herbalist with a direction to throw the sponge into the river after bathing with the soap.
He was told that after the bath, he could get anything he needed from the pastor’s wife on demand.
The defendants pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charges and were granted bail by Magistrate A. O Awogboro in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned to March 18, 2015 for further mention.
