NAN – Dele Olubiyi, 39, a trader, was on Friday docked at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged theft.

Olubiyi, a resident of No. 62, New Iyana Ipaja Road, Alaguntan in Lagos State, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Cpl Joseph Ajebe, said that the accused committed the offences on Dec. 8 at 2.30 p.m. at Shop 3, Road 31, Gowon Estate, Egbeda in Lagos State.

He alleged that the accused and some others who were still at large break-in into some people’s homes and shops to steal.

“ The accused and some others still at large broke into a shop but took off to an unknown destination when they sighted the police.

“The accused was later apprehended by some members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) while he was trying to drive off the bus that they used for the raid.

“The police recovered one big iron cutter and three different plate numbers from the bus after both Olubiyi and the vehicle had been handed over to them ,’’ he said.

Ajebe said the offences contravened Sections 285, 307 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alexander Komolafe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

He then adjourned the case to Jan. 27, 2016 for trial
