A final year student of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State has allegedly committed suicide over a failed relationship.

The deceased, whose identity was yet to be ascertained, was said to be undergoing his Industrial Attachment, IT, preparatory to graduation when he was jilted by his lover.

Orji Ikechukwu, a student of the institution, described the deceased as an intelligent student who was full of life and energy, adding that his grade point was close to distinction.

Orji said: “He’s currently in his IT days, a student of Public Administration.

“He decided to stay in Oko for his one year industrial training, (but) instead of focusing on his training he decided to search for true love.

“His girlfriend recently broke up with him and the news devastated him, and on Friday, when he could no longer endure it, he drank a brand of insecticide and died.”

Contacted by the reporter, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Chijioke Ibeziakor, said he was not aware of the incident.

He, however, promised to get back to the journalists later.

TRAGIC: Man Commits Suicide After Being Accused Of Stealing Brother’s N40,000

Iliya Adamu, a 34-year-old man, committed suicide after he was accused of stealing his brother’s N40,000 in a village in Girei, in the Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Adamu’s corpse was found dangling on a tree in a nearby bush in the community.

He was said to have committed suicide because he could not withstand being mocked and called a thief after his yet-to-be-identified brother reportedly accused him of stealing the N40,000 kept in a family safe.

After perpetrating the crime, his family members alongside neighbours, who could not locate his whereabouts, launched a search for him in the community.

They were said to have found his lifeless body in the bush two days after he went missing.

Sources in the community also said a container of insecticide was found under the tree where his corpse was found.

Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident, said, “The command is investigating the suicide.”

TRAGIC: 32-year-old Man Jumps Into Ilorin River In Apparent Suicide

Peter Ajayi, a 32-year-old man, reportedly plunged into the Asa River behind All Saints Anglican Church on Taiwo Isale road in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, on Thursday.

Daily Post reports that in what looked like a movie, Peter ran to the riverside behind the church, took off his slippers, and jumped into the river.

The tragic incident occurred at about 11:45 a.m on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

“Frantic efforts by family members to prevent him from embarking on the action failed as he ran to the river side like a possessed person to actualise his aim,” a source who witnessed the scene informed Daily Post in Ilorin on Sunday.

All efforts by the Kwara State Fire Service personnel to recover his remains proved abortive.

The fire service spokesman, Hassan Adekunle, told our correspondent that the search for Peter’s body was on Sunday, September 11, 2022, extended to the outskirts of Ilorin, Shao town in Moro Local Government Area of the state, without success.

He, however, said the relentless search would continue until the fire service recovers the body.
