One of the leading non-governmental organisations in Nigeria, Valentine Chineto Ozigbo Foundation has announced the flag-off of the 1st edition of its fitness exercise programme tagged “VCO Walk4Health”.

The epoch-making event comes up on Saturday, October 3, 2020, in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.

VCO Walk4Health is one of the numerous health awareness and bridge-building activities of the Foundation.

While unveiling the programme to journalists in Awka on Friday, September 18, 2020, Mr. Ozigbo, the immediate past President of Transcorp, explained that the Walk4Health was designed to impact three essential areas of our lives.

“We are launching our maiden edition of Walk4Health because we agree with the time-honoured adage that health is wealth and that the greatest asset we can possess, collectively or individually is sound health,” Mr. Ozigbo said.

“Unfortunately our greatest challenge today is health-related which has its root cause in our lack of regular physical exercises.

The respected business leader further added, “At VCO Foundation, we are conscious of the fact that the key driver of a buoyant, vibrant, progressive, and prosperous state/nation is premised on the good health of the individual components of the state.

“We have packaged VCO Walk4Health to positively impact the body and the mind, and to remind us of our oneness as Ndi Anambra.

According to Mr. Ozigbo, among others, these highlighted aspects of our lives are vital to “personal prosperity and the wellbeing of our communities”.

VCO Walk4Health is a public health and fitness programme open to all interested Anambra residents.

Participants will assemble at Ekwueme Square and will walk through a designated route and will end at Ekwueme Square.

Arthur Ezechukwu, the programmes manager at VCO Foundation, explained further, “This is the best of its kind and promises to be fun all the way as there will be continental and cultural music vibes to spice up the event. There will also be talks on fitness and wellness.

“As you are already aware, the Foundation is big on youth, sports, culture, and arts development.

“VCO Walk4Health will have an element of each of these touchpoints which speak to the essence of our Founder’s ideology.

“We will be giving out hundreds of free t-shirts, and we will be moving from Ekwueme Square to Aroma junction then to Eke Awka via the old road connect to Regina Celi and back to Ekwueme Square.

“Everyone is welcome to join us. The soundness of your health has much to do with exercise, come let us do it,” Mr Ezechukwu said.
