The lifeless bodies of a couple has been discovered hanging down a Neem tree next to each other after they went missing in the night of Saturday, May 2, 2015 before they were found dead the following day.

The duo were said to have made a suicide pact before finally taking their own lives in the town of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh of India.

According to the police, Rajneesh Kumar, 21, and his girlfriend, Imrana Bano, 18, made the suicide pact because their families were against the, getting married because they were not from the same community.

The two lovers are also of different religious backgrounds as Kumar is Hindu while Bano is Muslim.

While there was no suicide note, speculations have it that it was not communal warfare but it was their inter-religious love that led to their death.
It was learnt that the duo had been in love for about 4 years, but their families were against them getting married.Bano’s family found her a man of her community, and she was supposed to get married on the day of her death.

Imrana’s parents had recently caught her talking to Rajneesh from a mobile phone and beaten her up. They had fixed her marriage with a youth from Kandhla area of Shamli district and had forced her to agree to get engaged on Friday.

Bano, who was pursuing a graduation degree as a private student from a college in Kandhla, had returned to appear in his first year examination.

He managed to meet Imrana and they decided, perhaps, that death was the only recourse to the hostility by their families against their marriage.

Poison was also found at the spot of the suicide which took place on a property owned by Bano’s family.

Her uncle, Mohammad Idris, said, “They committed suicide because the two families were not ready to  accept their marriage.”
Inspector Singh, Circle Officer of Phugana, said, “They were in love with each other. It appears that they entered into a suicide pact because society was not willing to accept their relationship.”

However, Kumar’s father doesn’t believe it was a suicide venture as he maintained that the fact that the tree was on the girl’s family’s property is proof that it was murder case.

Meanwhile, police believe that the deaths were a suicide and do not suspect foul play. The bodies have been sent to the coroner’s officer for autopsies, according to World Wide Weird News.
