A 33-year-old woman has been hospitalized with severe injuries which she credits to domestic violence from her husband on Saturday, June 20, 2020.
The victim, Ronke Adeyemi, says she was brutally beaten by her husband, 35-year-old Benu Abiodun Abbey after she refused to abort their 3-month pregnancy.
The couple, who reside in Ode-Irele, Ondo State, got married in August 2018 and are said to have had series of domestic violence incidences.
Speaking to newsmen, the victims brother, Jimmy Adekanle, claims that Abbey beat up his wife and inserted his hands into her private part in an attempt to remove the fetus.
Jimmy Adekanle said: “Our sister had been complaining to us for a long time about how her husband had been maltreating her over every single issue since they got married.
“We always settle issues for them because there is no perfect marriage but her sin this time around was her refusal to abort her three-month-old pregnancy which she had for him.
“The husband wants her to terminate the pregnancy and since she refused, he went ahead to beat her up and left injuries all over her face and body”
