Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari has concluded plans to begin the provision of daily free meals for primary school children as promised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the run up to the election.

Speaking at the 45th Annual Accountants Conference in Abuja, Osinbajo said the scheme was a major Federal Government project and would create 1.14 million jobs and increase food production in the process.

He said, “One of the most important interventions required in the education sector is capacity building to improve teacher quality.

“This programme is intended to drive teachers’ capacity development; boost basic education; attract talents to the teaching profession. Better educated population increases economic potential for productivity.”
