Italy had a terrible 2010 World Cup, but surprised many with a march to the semifinals of Euro 2012, where they defeated Saturday’s opening-round opponent.
Italy sent England packing in 2012 and beat them in the 1990 World Cup as well, although they are just slight favorites to beat the Three Lions in Brazil.
England would be without arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who is out after damaging his medial knee ligaments, but should be available to face Uruguay. danny welback and buffon are also doubts going into this huge encounter.
