30 Feared Dead As Fulani Gunmen Storm 4 LGA’s In Nasarawa, Benue

No fewer than 30 persons were on Sunday, April 26, 2015 feared dead as unknown gunmen invaded four Local Government Areas of Guma, Kwande, Buruku and Keana in Benue and Nasarawa states.

The attack started in the evening of Saturday, April 25, 2015 and rolled over to the next day.

According to Punch, the villages attacked in Guma LGA are Tse-Uosu, Tse-Gbudu Taraka and Branch Umenger in Mbadwem council while in Keana local government, the assailants attacked Lornungun.

In the same vein, in Kwande Local Government, the gunmen raided Jato/Aka and environs just as many residents of Mbatie, Mbatsease and Mbaatungu Aji, all in Buruku LGA, were displaced by the armed herdsmen.

It was gathered that the survivors of the attacks sustained varying degrees of injuries.

A source only identified as Suunen, who fled from Guma disclosed that the  gunmen invaded the communities while the residents were resting and shot indiscriminately at innocent people.

He added that residents of neighboring communities have fled their villages over fears that the suspected Fulani militias might attack their communities.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Hyacinth Dagala, who confirmed the attack, eight corpses had been recovered.

Dagala further disclosed that the command had intensified surveillance just as additional security had been provided to stop further attacks.
