4 Suspected Kidnappers Killed In Gun Duel With Police In Edo

About four men suspected to be kidnappers were on Monday, February 2, 2015 murdered during an exchange of gun duel between them and the police officials in the state.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joseph Edoigiawerie, three among the suspected kidnappers were killed during a failed kidnap attempt on Sunday, February 1, 2015 whereas the fourth man was killed in a similar incident along the Benin/Auchi By-pass, while “the victim was rescued unhurt.”

The police spokesperson noted that the kidnap attempt was the second failed attempt that the suspected kidnappers would be organising.

The deceased alleged kidnappers were said to have opened fire immediately they saw the security operatives on Kojo Road, off Ikpoba Hill in Benin city.

The police urged residents of the state to immediately report any person(s) they find with bullet wounds in order to help them in their investigation.

He said, “The command is using this medium to appeal and encourage members of the public to inform the police of any one seen or found with bullet injury.”
