A 72-year-old landlord in one of the streets opposite the sprawling government house gate, Asaba, Delta State, is currently in police net following his alleged defilement of a 15- year-old girl sent on an errand to his compound, Leadership reports.
The landlord who was simply identified as Nnamdi reportedly stays close to the Infant Jesus, Infant Road junction in Asaba.
It was learnt that Nnamdi was embittered by the rate at which people enter his compound to pluck bitter leaf freely without first obtaining permission from him and so decided to lay an ambush over the weekend in order to catch one of the thieves and demand his pound of flesh.
In the process, the unsuspecting 15-year-old girl as usual entered the compound and headed towards the garden behind the building.
Nnamdi simply watched on as she plucked the bitter leaf before he went to the garden and lifted her straight into his bedroom where he allegedly raped her.
The Police spokeswoman DSP Celestina Kalu, confirmed the arrest of the suspect and disclosed his response during interrogation.
He said, “I had said if it was a boy or a man that was caught stealing my bitter leaf, I will beat him up after which I will hand him over to the police.
But if it is a girl or woman, I will do to her what a man does to a woman. So when I saw it was this girl that does not allow my bitter leaf to rest, I decided to teach her the lesson of her life by descending sexually on her.”
