Dasuki: EFCC Arrests Former Sokoto Gov Bafarawa, Yuguda, Others

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arrested the founding Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi and a former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa over the arms purchase scandal involving the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and the theft of N2.1 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

A former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda was arrested on Monday in connection with the same arms purchase scandal.

Dokpesi and Bafarawa were arrested on Tuesday and whisked to the EFCC, where they are now being interrogated.

EFCC sources told SIGNAL on Tuesday that the suspects were still being investigated and interrogated. The sources however could not tell if they will be released today or charged to court.

Yuguda who was arrested on Monday was still in EFCC custody at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, according to Sahara Reporters, EFCC sources disclosed to its reporters that on the instructions of Mr. Dasuki, CBN allegedly paid the sum of N2.1 billion to High Chief Dokpesi. Our sources at the EFCC neither confirmed nor denied the report by Sahara Reporters.

Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) on Tuesday morning arrested the immediate past National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and took him into custody in their Abuja office.
