Bayelsa Monarch Condemns Father Mbaka Over Unguarded Comment About President Jonathan

The royal father of Akipelai community in Ogbia Local Government  Area of Bayelsa State and former State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Asara Asara, has condemned the acclaimed religious leaders who have extended their spiritual role to political recommendation and condemnation, as they have turned their pulpit into campaign ground.

Speaking on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, Chief Asara, condemned the act as “mischievous and dangerous for the country’s democracy” and urged Christian followers to ignore them.

Asara, who was also reacting to recent comments by Catholic priest, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka on President Goodluck Jonathan, while preaching on a crusade ground, warned that the clergy should focus on their divine calling of preaching the message of salvation to mankind rather than getting involved in politics.

“The likes of Mbaka are money conscious and have turned churches into business centres and are obtaining money for the performance of miracles.” He stated

He also stressed that unguarded utterances by the clergy will make even the saints to withdraw from churches.

Asara advised other clergy to desist from political; participation and desist from making inflammatory comments on candidates and political parties to avoid causing disintegration in the house of God and by extension, the society.
