Deji Adeyanju, a popular political activist and former director of social media of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has resigned his membership of the Our Mumu Don Do movement.

In a scathing message to The Trent on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, Mr. Adeyanju indicted the founder of the movement, Charly Boy for compromising the movement and said he no longer has confidence in the entertainment icon.

“‪I have resigned my membership of Our Mumu Don,” the convener of Concerned Nigerians wrote. “I no longer have confidence in the leader of the movement, Charly Boy.”

He went on to say that Charly Boy betrayed the cause while Adeyanju was in detention.

“He betrayed the cause while I was away in prison and compromised with the oppressors,” he wrote while expressing thanks.

Mr. Adeyanju has been a target of the brutal tactics of the Muhammadu Buhari administration because of his advocacy against the undemocratic actions of the regime.

He has been arrested several times in the last four years. All but one of them was while he was protesting against the government.

In December, 2018, he was arrested in Abuja, moved to Kano and detained in Kano Prison over 2005 charges of which he was discharged and acquitted of all the charges of alleged murder in 2019.

He was granted bail on February 18, 2019 after spending 67 days in prison.

Our Mumu Don Do emerged into national consciousness in 2017 after joining forces with Concerned Nigerians and other civil society organisations to organise “Resume or Resign” protests when President Muhammadu Buhari was in London for a protracted illness.

Our Mumu Don Do was an opposition movement till in a surprise move late 2018, in the thick of the just concluded presidential elections campaign, Charly Boy began to advocate against the main opposition candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Adeyanju founded Concerned Nigerians in 2015 soon after the 2015 elections.
