Nigeria’s minister of health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu has August 28, 2014 confirmed two cases of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Port Harcourt.
This confirmation makes these the first two cases of the deadly disease recorded outside Lagos.
Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer arrived Nigeria with the disease on July 20, 2014. Since then, the index patient, and four others have died of the disease.
