Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who has been critical of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan has officially dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to feelers from Punch and Television Continental (TVC), Obasanjo allegedly placed his PDP membership card on the table, leaving an unnamed ward leader of PDP to tear it in public, although the location where it took place was not known.
The reports further said that Obasanjo declared himself a statesman immediately after dumping the PDP.
It would be recalled that Obasanjo ruled Nigeria for two terms on the platform of the PDP.
