BREAKING: Popular Nigerian Artiste, Sound Sultan Dies Of Cancer At 44

Olarenwaju Fasasi, the Nigerian artiste who uses the stage name, Sound Sultan has died of throat cancer at the age of 44, his family has announced.

Olarenwaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi, passed away on the morning of Sunday, July 11, 2021 according to a statement by the family signed by Dr Kayode Fasasi. 

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of multi-talented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter, Olarenwaju Fasasi aka Sound Sultan,” the statement sent to The Trent read.

“He passed away at the age of 44 following a hard-fought battle with angioimmunoblastic t-cell lymphoma. 

“He is survived by his wife, three children, and his siblings. We, his family, will appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss,” the statement ended.

Angioimmunoblastic t-cell lymphoma is a rare form of cancer that grows in the white blood cells of the patient weakening his immune system.

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the sad news which broke on Sunday morning.

Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti left a comment on Sound Sultan’s Instagram page with, “I am shocked and very SAD reading this news ( in the daily punch newspaper)of the passing of Sound Sultan (HE IS FAMILY) I pray our Creator to give his family strength at this time.”

“Rest in glory my brother @soundsultan. You’ll live forever in our hearts. Allah gives,” Efe Omorogbe, a popular artiste manager, wrote.

Comedian Mr Macaroni wrote, “This is so painful. Rest In Peace Legend!! May God grant his family, friends and fans worldwide the fortitude to bear this tragic loss.”
