A female suicide bomber has on Thursday, February 12, 2015 set off Improvised Explosive Device in popular Biu market in Borno state killing about seven persons and leaving 20 others with varying degrees of injuries.
A source, Zakka Emmanuel who witnessed the incident said, “I counted seven people (dead) at the spot and more than 20 others are seriously bleeding. Shops were also affected by the blast.”
A trader identified as Auwal Yusuf gave an identical toll and both said that the bomber may have been disguised as a passenger in a van loaded with goods and people.
Also confirming the incident was another source, Babagani Ali who said, “There has been a suicide attack by a female suicide bomber in the market this afternoon.”
It was learnt that the victims of the attack have been evacuated from the scene of the attack to an undisclosed hospital.
Before now, the terrorist group has seized major towns in most states in the northern part of the country including Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States.
