President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 reportedly held closed door meeting with the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal over the rejection of his ministerial nominee from the state, Aisha Abubakar.
According to Naij, the President’s meeting with Tambuwal was necessitated by a letter written to President Buhari by the Sokoto State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after rising from a meeting with Tambuwal.

In the letter, the party accused President Buhari of negating the Nigerian constitution and most especially the rules of the APC in his choice of Abubakar.
The letter had read in parts: “The nominee Miss Aisha Abubakar was not a member of a Political Party as required by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at least our All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The Nominee is from Tambuwal Local Government the same Local Government with the Governor of Sokoto State Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR which negates the letter and spirit of Section 147(3).”
Also in attendance at the meeting was the former Governor of the State Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, who is now a senator.
