Buhari’s Supporter Rejects University Appointment In Error-Filled Newspaper Advert [LOOK]

Must read

A Northern politician and supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, Najatu Muhammad has rejected an appointment as the chairperson of the governing council of the Dutse Federal University. The appointment was announced on Saturday, February 13, 2016 by Adama Adamu, Nigeria’s minister of Education.

Muhammadu turned down the appointed because she only got to read about it in the news and she felt that it should have been discussed with her first. She decided to use the same medium – the news media – to reject the appointment. She is reportedly an associate of the President’s wife, Aisha Buhari.

In the quater-page news advertorial published in Daily Trust on Monday, February 15, 2016, Muhammad said she was a big supporter of President Buhari, but she took exception to the fact that she was not consulted about the appointment prior to the announcement. She addressed her advertorial to the education minister.

It read: “Sir, I Najatu Muhammad wishes (sic) to thank you so much for considering me worthy of being appointed the chairperson of Dutse Federal University. It’s however unfortunate that I was not consulted before the announcement in the media. I also regret that I have to use the same medium to announce that I can’t accept the appointment for personal reasons.

“I will however remain an ardent supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari in his effort in charting a new course for this country. A course that we pray will put this country back to the path of progress. I will also continue to support the presidents (sic) fight against corruption and other ills of this country. My unflinching support for the President will remain for Allah’s sake and country. I pray that Allah will continue to guide and protect our President.

“Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Thank you.”
