ENUGU, Nigeria — A man and his pregnant daughter have reportedly been banished from a community in Enugu State following allegations that he impregnated her.
The pair were expelled from Nenwe, in Aninri Local Government Area, after residents accused the man of engaging in an incestuous relationship with his daughter.
Community leaders reportedly declared that neither would be permitted to return, even after death.
The incident occurred on Thursday, October 15, 2026, according to multiple blogs.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and police have not announced an investigation.
According to the report, community leaders summoned the man and his daughter after learning of the alleged pregnancy.
Residents considered the accusation a serious violation of their traditional customs.
The community subsequently organised a ceremony to expel both individuals from Nenwe.
The father and daughter were reportedly escorted to the boundary separating Nenwe from a neighbouring community, where they were ordered to leave permanently.
During the ceremony, they tied fresh palm fronds around their necks and waists.
Gunpowder was also reportedly discharged as part of the traditional rites.

A video circulated on social media appeared to show the pair walking along a road as residents followed them, singing and shouting.

The video has not independently established the circumstances of the alleged sexual relationship or the daughter’s pregnancy.
An elder who addressed the gathering reportedly said community members had agreed to the punishment.
He explained that the decision was meant to uphold Nenwe’s traditional customs and prevent what residents believed could bring spiritual consequences to the community.
According to the elder, the alleged conduct constituted a grave violation of local traditions.
He maintained that the expulsion was not motivated by personal hostility towards the man and his daughter.
The elder reportedly announced that both individuals were prohibited from returning to any part of Nenwe, whether alive or dead.
He nevertheless wished them well wherever they might settle.
Another community representative warned the father that he would face spiritual punishment if he mistreated anyone from Nenwe in his new place of residence.
The speaker also declared that the father and daughter would no longer be recognised as members of Nenwe or the Agbada community.
The allegations raise questions about the circumstances of the daughter’s pregnancy and whether she may have been subjected to sexual abuse.
Available reports have not established her age, whether she consented to the alleged relationship, or whether threats, coercion, or abuse were involved.
There has also been no independently verified evidence identifying the father of her unborn child.
It is unclear whether the pregnant daughter has received medical attention, protection, or other assistance following her reported expulsion.
Reports indicate that she was sent away alongside the man accused of impregnating her.
Neither individual has made their account of the allegations public.
The Enugu State Police Command has not issued an official statement concerning the reported incident.
Attempts to reach the command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, for comment were unsuccessful.
The report said the police spokesperson did not answer calls seeking comment.
It remains unclear whether a formal complaint has been lodged or whether authorities have begun examining the allegations.
No arrest or criminal charge has been announced in connection with the case.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged incest, the daughter’s pregnancy, and the community’s decision to expel both individuals remain unverified by law enforcement authorities.
