Spirit And Life Devotional: Caring For The Man Of God

Must read

[pull_quote_center]”So he said, ‘What then is to be done for her?’ And Gehazi answered, ‘Actually, she has no son, and her husband is old.’” II Kings 4:14 NKJV[/pull_quote_center]

According to the Bible, there was a notable woman in Shunem who cared for Elisha the man of God; she started by making him food whenever he visited Shunem, then one day she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”

Now, there’s no way you would do something like that to a man and not provoke him to do something. One day, Elisha called her and asked, “What can I do for you?” She didn’t even say her problem. Gehazi answered, “Actually, she has no son, and her husband is old.” Elisha called her back and prophesied, “About this time next year you shall embrace a son.” She conceived, and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her. Hallelujah!

Be wise! Recognize the gift that God has given to you. Don’t do it just because you want something in return, do it because you appreciate the grace of God upon him. God will bless you as you do.
