LAGOS, Nigeria — Media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo has released the official trailer for Madam President, a three-part political series inspired by true-life events.
The production, which marks Jideonwo’s first scripted project as an executive producer, will premiere on the Chude Films YouTube channel on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
“Power has a price. The official trailer for MADAM PRESIDENT is here,” Jideonwo wrote while announcing the release.
The series examines political authority, accountability and the personal consequences of confronting entrenched institutions.
A Move Into Scripted Storytelling
Jideonwo, the host of the interview programme With Chude, has concentrated largely on documentaries and unscripted conversations during his career.
He said he had previously resisted moving into fictional storytelling but decided to support Madam President because of his connection to its subject.
“After years of saying no to scripted content, I finally executive produced a series focused on a story that is dear to my heart,” Jideonwo said. “You’ll recognise the story. It’s inspired by true-life events.”
The announcement did not identify the specific events or public figures that informed the story.
Jideonwo executive-produced the series with Jennifer Mairo. Mercy “Big Star” Osazuwa directed the production.
The cast includes Peggy Ovire, Teniola Aladese, Ayo Adesanya, Jide Kosoko, Patrick Doyle, Grace Angalabiri and Faith Adewale.
Series to Receive Television Broadcasts
Joy, Inc. and YNaija Studios produced Madam President, with support from Africa No Filter and CcHUB Creative Economy.
The complete three-part series will first be released online through Chude Films. Television premieres on WAP TV, Wazobia TV and Rave TV are expected to follow.
The trailer presents the series as a political drama concerned with the pressures of leadership, the pursuit of justice and the decisions made by people entrusted with public power.
