CLEVELAND, USA – In a stirring symphony of diverse talent and remarkable contributions, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has pulled back the curtain on its 2023 class of inductees.
This year’s induction roster is a medley of musical prowess and creative innovation, featuring artists such as Missy Elliott, George Michael, Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, and The Spinners.
With its latest announcement, the Hall of Fame has spotlighted those artists and groups who have “woven music with such unparalleled originality, impact, and influence that it has forever shaped the rhythm of rock & roll,” according to the organisation’s description.
DJ Kool Herc and Link Wray are set to accept the esteemed Musical Influence Award, a tribute to “artists whose musical and performative flair have sparked a direct and tangible evolution in rock & roll and the broader music scene impacting young audiences.”
In recognition of their significant artistic footprint in the world of music, Chaka Khan, Al Kooper, and Bernie Taupin will be bestowed with the Musical Excellence Award.
This accolade is “presented to artists, musicians, songwriters, and producers who, through their distinctive creativity and influence, have left an indelible mark on the musical landscape.”
In the non-performing category, the Ahmet Ertegun Award will be posthumously awarded to Don Cornelius, in honor of his crucial role in “shaping the creative trajectory and growth of rock & roll and youth-impacting music as a key industry professional.”
The eagerly awaited 38th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be hosted on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the esteemed Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
