Court Grants Samuel Nwanosike Order For Substituted Service On IG Of Police, Amaechi, Others

Must read

A Port Harcourt High Court has granted leave to Mr. Samuel Nwanosike, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area to issue and serve an Originating Motion out of its jurisdiction to IGP and Former Governor Rotimi Amaechi among others, in a suit brought before it by Mr. Nwanosike,  with an additional order to the respondents to maintain status quo by not harassing, intimidating or arresting the applicant, as earlier ordered by the court.

The applicant, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike, popularly referred to as ‘Ishi’, who is the Local Government Chairman of embattled former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has dragged the latter to court in a suit to enforce his fundamental human rights due to desperate measures taken by the Minister for Transportation to arrest and intimidate him over the loss of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the recently concluded rerun elections in Ikwerre LGA.

Mr. Nwanosike, a young, vibrant, articulate and focused leader made history during the rerun elections, when he galvanised the electorate, women, men and youths to deal a deathly electoral blow on the fortune of the Transport Minister in particular, resulting in loss of the APC in the LGA in spite of the influence and presence of armed soldiers at the behest of the former Governor.

Since that landslide victory of the PDP in Ikwerre LGA, Mr. Amaechi has stopped at nothing to apprehend his LGA Chairman, Samuel Nwanosike, on spurious allegations and unsubstantiated claims, prompting the latter to seek redress in a court of law.

Meanwhile, the collated rerun election results of Ikwerre Local Government Area have still not been declared by INEC allegedly on the orders of the former Governor almost a month after the elections. No reason has been given up to date for the unfortunate delay.

Mr. Amaechi was said to have lost his Polling Unit and Ward in the March 19 court ordered rerun elections in Rivers State; an incident that greatly weakens his political standing nationally. It is not known for how much longer INEC will maintain what many describe as its criminal silence and complicity in the rerun elections in Ikwerre LGA without declaring the collated results that are in favour of the PDP.
