It beats me that people argue about the fact that man is a spirit that lives in a body and has a soul as The Bible says. Even now, the more advances we make in science, the more scientists discover that science vindicates The Bible.
Consider that about 70 percent of the human body is made up of water. Water can come in the form of a gas called H₂O which can be everywhere and is not limited by space and time just like a spirit. Water can be in the form of a fluid substance which cannot fully be contained physically but which can serve a physical purpose such as quenching the human thirst similar to the way our soul can quench our curiosity by giving us intellectual abilities.
Finally, water can be in the form of ice which is totally physical and which can be seen and touched just like our physical bodies. And just like our physical bodies begin to deteriorate over time and we die and release the spirit that lives in us, so does ice gradually begin to melt from the time it is formed until it returns to its pure state of a gas called H₂O. “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”-1 Thessalonians 5:3.
