Defiance: Nnamdi Kanu Appears In Court In ‘Biafra Themed’ Attire [LOOK]

Leader of the pro-Biafra group, the Indigenous People Of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu is facing trial for setting up a pirate radio station, Radio Biafra and agitations for the creation of the independent republic of Biafra out of Eastern Nigeria.

The activist, who has been named a prisoner-of-conscience by civil society groups, appeared in court on Friday, February 19, 2016 in a white attire with an embroidery design in “Biafra colours” on the same day that the request by the Federal Government to hold a secret trial for him was denied.

The Federal Government has charged him for treasonable felony and he is facing trial with two of his comrades. His case is currently be heard at a Federal High Court in Abuja where the judge, Justice John Tsoho denied Kanu bail.

Kanu remains in remand at the Kuje Prison in Abuja.

His supporters have been agitating for the release of Kanu, holding demonstrations around the country. Friday, Intersociety, a leading civil rights advocacy group revealed that mass graves of IPOB members who were murdered by security agencies on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari was uncovered in Aba.
