‘I Will Lead The Mother Of All Protests’: Dino Melaye Threatens Buhari Over Fuel Subsidy Removal

Controversial senator of Nigeria from Kogi State, Dino Melaye has issued a warning to President Muhammadu Buhari over the fuel price increase following the removal of fuel subsidy.

The government announced the decision to increase petrol pump price by 60% on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, since then there have been mixed reactions, mostly condemnation for the action which the government says is a necessary “price modulation”.

Melaye, who is a rebel at heart, has advised his own party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to pressurize Buhari to reverse the decision of he would mobilize Nigerians and lead the “mother of all protests” against the government.

“My sincere advise is for the National Chairman of party to our party to suggest that the federal government immediately reverse the announced increase in the pump price of PMS [petrol],” Melaye wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday, May 12, 2016. “If after 7 days from Monday there is no reversal, I will mobilize Nigerians from all walks of life for the mother of all protest.”

“This is not what we promised Nigerians. The time is not right and the negative effects will be unbearable. A word is enough for the wise,” the senator lamented.
