The government of Akwa Ibom State on Monday, September 21, 2015 stated again that neither firearm nor any currency were recovered from the Government House during a recent raid by operatives of Nigeria’s secret police also known as Directorate of State Services, DSS.
Speaking via a statement, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, rebuffed the rumours which were allegedly peddled by a section of the media.
The statement recalled that Governor Udom Emmanuel of the state had condemned the claims a couple of times.
‘’Let it be stated for the umpteenth time that no such thing was found or taken from our Government House,” Umanah stated.
According to the commissioner, such allegations by some alleged agents of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the misinformed public were aimed at tarnishing the government’s image.
He further implored the general public to disregard the rumors from the coffers of political jobbers whose stock in trade was spreading rumours to survive.
