Police Link Cult Leaders Arrested In Edo State To APC (READ)

Must read

The Nigeria Police have transferred a total of 11 suspected cult leaders arrested in Edo State to Abuja for prosecution.

The twist of the story though, according to Nigerianews24 , is the fact that all the captured criminal suspects were in possession of the All Progressives Congress (APC) membership cards.

Police Spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu while parading the suspects to the press in Abuja on Monday, May 18, 2015 explained that some items recovered from some of the suspects included 15 international passports, 17 APC membership cards and 34 APC membership registration forms alongside one stunt gun, a number of ATMs, cheque booklets and cult membership registration forms.

According to Ojukwu, the captured thugs were responsible for terrorizing Edo state by sparking vicious inter and intra-cult clashes that had led to much loss of lives and property in the state.

However, two of the suspects denied being cult members but said they belonged to registered organisations which had helped the police to address cultism in the state.

They claimed to have been arrested at a meeting summoned by the police in Edo to discuss and find ways of tackling cult and violence-related crimes in the state.
