Eid-el-Fitri: 2 Friends Arrested For Stealing Cow Worth N95, 000 In Nasarawa

As the annual Eid-el-Fitri drwas closer, two friends have been arrested by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civl Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Nasarawa State for stealing a cow valued at N95, 000.

Speaking to Punch, in Lafia, the Deputy Commandant, Operations, Mr. Alexander Barunde,in Lafia that the two suspects identified as 20-year-old Zaidu Daibu and 19-year-old Mohammed Ahmed were arrested on Monday, July 12, 2015 following a tip-off from the cattle market traders at Shinge village, near Lafia.

He said, “One of the suspects, Daibu, was given seven cows to rear. He, however, conspired with Ahmed to sell one of the cows before they were arrested.”

Barunde revealed that the corps officials have launched an investigation to determine if the suspects had some other cohorts so they would be brought to book.

He also stated that the suspects would be prosecuted by appropriate authority immediately they are done with investigations.

The commandant however, urged the general public to be watchful especially during this festive period and endeavour to report any suspicious movement to the security agencies.

In a confessional statement, one of the suspects, Ahmed disclosed that he was fond of stealing cows especially during the Sallah festivities, he also recalled that during the 2014 Eid-el-Fitri, he stole four cows which he subsequently sold in Otukpo, Benue State.
