IBADAN, Nigeria — A female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was killed when a truck struck a motorcycle near Agodi Gardens in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The road accident on Monday, October 12, 2026, also left several people injured and multiple vehicles damaged.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the death, saying the motorcycle rider suffered a fractured leg.
Kehinde Dahunsi, the FRSC sector commander in Oyo State, told the News Agency of Nigeria that emergency personnel recovered the woman’s body and transported the injured motorcyclist to the University College Hospital in Ibadan.
The deceased was taken to the State Hospital morgue.
The woman’s identity had not been established when rescue operations ended, Dahunsi said.
Abimbola Faniyi, the NYSC public relations officer in Oyo State, said the agency was working to identify the deceased and determine her place of primary assignment.
According to Punch, witnesses reported that the truck had been involved in several collisions in the Sango area before reaching Agodi Gardens.
The witnesses alleged that the driver was attempting to leave the scene of those earlier collisions when the vehicle struck the motorcycle carrying the corps member.
Other vehicles were damaged during the incident, and several people sustained injuries, although authorities had not released a complete casualty figure.
The collisions caused traffic disruptions, with motorists diverted from affected roads as emergency workers attended to the injured.
A separate News Express report said bystanders pulled the truck driver from his vehicle and assaulted him following the fatal crash.
There was no immediate official confirmation that the driver had been arrested.
Authorities had also not established the cause of the collisions or confirmed allegations that the driver was attempting to escape after the earlier incidents.
