Attorneys for Michael Brown’s family say the process that led to a white officer not being indicted in the fatal shooting of the unarmed, black 18-year-old was unfair and broken, The Washington Times reports.
Benjamin Crump, the lead attorney of the Brown family, said at a news conference Tuesday , November 25, 2014 that they objected to St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch’s decision to call a grand jury and to not appoint a special prosecutor to handle the case against Ferguson police offer Darren Wilson who is on paid administrative leave.
Anthony Gray, a lawyer for the Brown family, said the decision was a “direct reflection of the presentation of the evidence.”
The Rev. Al Sharpton said McCulloch’s news conference “went out of his way” to discredit Michael Brown.
Sharpton also said, “You have broken our hearts, but not our backs”. He also condemned the violent protesters that followed the announcement of the grand jury decision not to indict the Wilson.
