Former Head Of State General Babangida Loses Mother At 101

Its been a sad week in the house of former Nigerian ex-military President General Ibrahim Babangida due to the death of his foster mother Hajiya Sefiya Hassan Akere on Thursday, May 21, 2014.

This was announced to the public by the deceased son Alhaji Dattijo Aliyu, Director General of the Niger State Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and  Chairman of Niger Tornadoes Football Club on Saturday, May 24,2014.

Sefiya, fondly called “Nna Mai Kifi” by the former President, died at the ripe age of 101 at the family house along Kuta Road, Minna, Niger State capital after a brief illness.

The deceased was known for her fine leadership qualities and also her acts of kindness and love she showed to anyone who came in contact with her.

She has long been buried according to Islamic rites.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
