Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State on Sunday, March 8, 2015 donated over N3million to four patients suffering from kidney failure at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH).

Some of the governor’s aides accompanied him to the August visit at the hospital prominent among whom was the state commissioner for Health Dr. Emem Bassey.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Etete Peters warmly welcomed the governor before taking him around the Dialysis Department.

The pitiable sight of the patients who were placed on life saving machine prompted the governor to make the donation after encouraging them.

He said, ‘’God is the giver and taker of life and because he is the ultimate owner of man’s existence we need to pray in supplications to him

“I understand that one of you was to celebrate his birthday today but could not do so because he has to come for dialysis. I was greatly touched and I felt I should come here personally and see him.”

Governor Akpabio did not fail to laud the efforts of the Chief Medical Director of the Teaching Hospital, Professor Peters for efforts made to save lives.

Peters expressed immense gratitude to the governor and further solicited his support in an ongoing expansion of the hospital noting that most of their facilities were not in their best states as the hospital is the only Federal Government referral health institution in the state.
