Governor Mai Mala Buni on Thursday, November 11, 2021, presented the 2022 budget before the Yobe State House of Assembly in Damaturu.
The budget entails a total expenditure of One Hundred and Sixty Four Billion, Fifty-four Million, Three Hundred and Eighty-Four Thousand Naira (N164,054,384,000) indicating 17.3% increase over the previous budget.
Recurrent expenditure is to gulp Ninety One Billion, Four Hundred and Twenty Five Million, Seven Hundred and Forty-Three Thousand naira N91,425,743,000), while Seventy Two Billion, Six Hundred and Twenty Eight Million, Six Hundred and Forty-One Thousand Naira (N72,628,641,000) is allocated to finance capital expenditure.
While speaking on the budget, Governor Buni said in the year 2022, the government intends to maintain its policy on prudent management of resources, observance of due process, and ensuring good value for money.
He said all ongoing projects will be completed as well as ensure the provision of basic infrastructure, the general increase in agricultural production and improving commercial activities, and enhancement of Internally Generated Revenue for speedy post-insurgency recovery and development.
The budget according to the Governor is a “BUDGET OF CONTINUITY, EMPOWERMENT AND ACCELERATED DEVELOPMENT.”
