INEC Schedules April 25 For Taraba Governorship Election Re-run

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, April 25, 2015 for the re-run of the Taraba State governorship election between Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governorship election in the state was declared inconclusive as the margin between both leading candidates was less than the votes declared invalid.

Making the announcement was Phebian Yame, the Head of the Department of Enlightenment and Publicity for INEC, who said the concerned parties have been communicated.

Meanwhile normalcy has returned to Jalingo, Sunkani in Ardo Kola Local Government Area and Gembu, headquarters of Sardauna Local Government Area after 11 people were killed in violent clashes.

The run-off election will be held in all 165 units of Donga Local Government Area as well as some polling units in Bali, Karim Lamido, Takum, Ussa, Wukari, Yorro and Zing.
