Workers Prevent Plateau Chief Judge From Entering His Office

Must read

The members of the Nasarawa State chapter of judicial staff union, JUSUN, prevented Suleiman Dikko, the chief judge of the state, from gaining entrance to his office in Lafia on Monday, February 26, 2018.

Journalist gathered that members of the union have been on strike since February 16, 2018.

It took sustained pleadings by the chief judge before the workers allowed him to move to his office.

Members of the State Judicial Service Commission were earlier allowed access to the State High Court Headquarters for a meeting over the JUSUN strike.

Jimoh Musa, the chairman of JUSUN in the state, informed journalist that the strike would continue until all their nine demands are met.

The judicial worker’s grievances include among others none promotion and annual increment of salaries, and refusal to convert qualified staff to judges.

He called on the members to remain at home pending further directive from the union.

Meanwhile, the Chief Judge has directed all judicial service workers in the state to return to work or lose their pay.

“Any staff that failed to report to his or her duty post on Monday, February 26, 2018, would not be paid for the period he or she is not in office,” spokesman of the state High Court, Enoch Ali-Maku, said.
