Journalist With Ties To Boko Haram Confirms Shekau’s ‘Surrender Video’ Is Fake [TWEETS]

Must read

If you have been following the story of Boko Haram closely, then you are familiar with Ahmad Salkida’s story.

He is a Dubai-based journalist who used to work closely with the late founder of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Mohammed Yusuf. That was before Yusuf was killed in controversial circumstances in the custody of the Nigerian Police in November 2009.

Salkida claims he suffered persecution from the Nigerian government over his ties to the terrorist group and always maintained that though he had contacts with the leaders of the deadly organisation, he was never a member and never endorsed terrorism.

For a long time, Salkida has tried hard to sell himself as an “insider” source for authentic Boko Haram information. He has on several occasions refuted the Nigerian military claims that Abubakar Shekau, the groups’s radical leader has been killed.

At a time, Salkida was acting as a mediator between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram in peace talks that never crystallised. He accused the Nigerian government of “greed”, “ignorance”, and “insincerity” and has often mocked the government’s inability to defeat the terrorists.

Thursday, March 24, 2016, Salkida took to micro-blogging website, Twitter to debunk the latest Abubakar Shekau video which shows the image of a man who looks like Shekau, reportedly, telling his followers to surrender and save their lives. He categorically calls the video a fake and says Nigerians are “gullible”. See his tweets below:
