The duo on motorcycle made an attempt to steal from a Northern trader carrying mint of money in his bad as he was about to procure some goods at the market.

Unexpectedly, they met a resistance and opened fire on the trader at point-blank range, but die to damp cartridges none of the bullets caused any injuries.

The Hausa trader while defending himself and property, managed to stab one of the attackers right on his chest with his waist dagger.

Both robbers fell from their motorcycle after being hit by an on-coming vehicle.

“Those who were watching the incident immediately mobilized themselves, turned to a mob, arrested the two robbers and set them ablaze”, said one of the eye witnesses.

The Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, Hassan Musa, authenticated the incident, stating that the gun and the motorbike were recovered in the scene of failed crime and were gathered as evidence for an on-going investigation.
