JUST IN: Violence Breaks Out In Oshodi, 2 Buses Burnt

There was considerable melee in Oshodi area of Lagos State on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 following violent outbursts by unknown persons.

According to an eyewitness, Dani Lone, who spoke to The Trent said the melee began as early as 7 am when a crowd of on-lookers were seen around 2 buses which had been burnt by an irate mob for unknown reasons.

Lone said: “I knew the situation would become more dangerous as the two buses were completely destroyed. I left in a hurry in order to avoid being caught in the fracas.”

Another eye witness, Lawal Olusegun, who spoke to The Trent as at press time said the whole of Oshodi had become a war-zone as fighting between warring factions had escalated, although the number of casualties could not be ascertained.

Olusegun further revealed that he had to re-route his journey from Victoria Island to Oshodi by taking the Costain-Surulere-Jibowu-Ikorodu Road route before accessing Oshodi via Ikorodu road as the traffic on the normal axis was at a stand still.

Olusegun said: “People are being told to raise up their hands as they walk. The police had been deployed to restore calm. A lot of property has been damaged though.”
