Must read

Kogi state government on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, debunked reports that a strange disease killed over 50 persons in the Olomaboro Local Government Area, LGA, of the state.

Saka Audu, the state commissioner for Health, in an interview monitored on Channels TV said that the deaths could only have been recorded in neighbouring Enugu State.

He explained that it was impossible for the disease to cross the boundary from Enugu to Kogi.

The lawmaker representing Olamaboro Constituency in the state Assembly, Ujah Anthony Alewo had on Tuesday in a motion of urgent public importance presented on the floor of the house claimed that over 50 people from the area died from the strange disease.

He has said that the strange disease comes with symptoms of headache, red eyes, loss of appetite, inability to urinate, convulsion, and other ailments.

He lamented that it was sad and disturbing that the residents of Etteh community, Olamaboro LGA were thrown into confusion by the outbreak of an epidemic alien to them.

He added that the cause of the disease remains unknown, and that infected persons die within a week of contracting it.
