A landlord identified only as, Enogieru, has stabbed his tenant, Aigbogun, in the stomach in their house located No. 5 Ogiemwenken Street, Off St Saviour Road, Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo State.

It was learnt that the bone of contention was a girl, although the details surrounding the young girl appear sketchy.

Reports by Pulse stated that the victim was taken to Central Hospital in Benin City around 9am on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 by policemen in a Hilux van.

According to a source who witnessed the incident, the landlord committed the act at midnight and took to his heels thereafter.

The victim was covered with a cloth until daybreak because the family couldn’t afford to take him to the hospital.

A neighbor to the victim said police told them there was no fuel in their vehicle to convey the victim to the hospital.

A witness who gave his name as Peter Igbinosun disclosed that trouble started in the night of Tuesday, September 22, 2015 when the warring duo went to have some drinks at a bar.

He said: “They came to me and I settled the quarrel. I even asked this man to sleep in my house but he refused.

“He stabbed him at about 12am and we didn’t have any money to go to the hospital. We went to the police and they said they don’t have fuel to take him to the hospital.

“The landlord has no wife and he used bottle to stab this tenant many times.”

The police are on the trail to arrest the fleeing landlord while doctors are battling to save the victim’s life.
