Man, 23, Shot Dead By Security Operatives Over Alleged Snatching Of Election Materials In Jos

The Plateau State Police Command on Saturday, April 11, 2015 confirmed the killing of a 23-year-old man during the governorship and house of assembly elections in Jos.

The deceased, identified simply as Salim, was shot dead by security operatives.

Mr Emmanuel Abu, Spokesman of the command, said, “One Salim was shot dead by unknown security operatives during the elections.

“We are not sure of further details but we shall try to find out the circumstances and get back to you.”

Sources told newsmen that Salim ran into the voting arena at the Ali Kazaure Polling Unit, grabbed the ballot box and attempted to run away with it.

The source said that security operatives keeping vigil at the polling unit, ran after Salim, arrested him and hurled him into their security vehicle, a Toyota Hilux.

However, as they made to move the vehicle, Salim jumped out and started running. The security operatives were said to have ran after Salim and shot him dead.
