A randy 27-year-old man, Tope Akintade has raped and impregnated a 13-year-old orphan simply identified as Beatrice on Baale Street, Agboju, Kuje in the Amuwo area of Lagos State.
The victim said to be a primary three pupil lives with her aunt in a house near the suspect’s residence in the aforementioned area.
Akintade had lured the victim into his bedroom in the afternoon of the fateful day while she was outside washing some plates last November and raped her thereafter.
The victim’s aunt who pleaded anonymity due to the sensitivity of the issue said she had previously warned Akintade to steer clear from her niece after Beatrice reported that he was “playing rough play” with her.
According to Punch, nobody was in the compound on the fateful day to intervene in Akintade’s unruly act against the poor girl.
Akintade said to be an indigene of Idanre Local Government Area, Ondo State reportedly had three rounds of sexual romp with Beatrice.
Beatrice kept the attack to herself until she started showing early signs of pregnancy and was taken to a hospital where a test showed that she was already three months gone with a pregnancy.
The suspect was subsequently arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court by prosecutor, Olusoji Ojaokomo where he was charged with two counts of rape.
The charge read, “That you, Tope Akintade, 27, on Baale Street, Agboju, Satellite Town, Kunje, Amuwo, Lagos, in the Apapa Magisterial District, did defile one Beatrice by having canal knowledge of her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
“That you, Tope Akintade, did indecently assault Beatrice by touching her private parts and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 134 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was admitted on bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties in like sum who will also present their evidence of tax payment with their residential addresses to the court.
The magistrate, Mrs. O.I. Adelaja, adjourned the case for further mention until Monday, March 23, 2015.
